This is one of many expressive bronze sculptures you will find standing guard around the edges of Plaza De La Fuente (Fountain Square) in the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village in Sedona, AZ. This one and several of its buddies were created by sculptor, Bruce Butler.

Our watercolor painting class spent one whole day en plein air at the village. I sketched this figure while waiting for our instructor, Charles Reid, to set up and provide his demo for the day. I love the varied colors that show up in the metal and change as the light washes over and around the figures.

I am an Appreciative Adventurer - finding joy and beauty everywhere I am and everywhere I go. In art, as in life, I am drawn to express the up side, the sunny side, the inspiring message that life is good. I hope others feel encouraged and heartened for having been in my presence and in the company of my work.
