Sometime you stroll down the beach, sandals in hand - just you and the water - traveling light! Other times, supplies are needed - especially if you're planning to hang out for an afternoon in the sun. A couple of cold soft drinks is top of the list. Can you spot the rest? Beach blanket. Beach bag. Spits. Shades. Sunscreen.
Sketched in the hot July sun at Beaver Glen Beach at Waskesiu Lake (in Prince Albert National Park) is one of my favorite spots in northern Saskatchewan. It's been a summer vacation destination for our family for nearly two decades. I'm drawn to the water, the skies, and the call of the loons. I'm always relaxed and refreshed by this easy, slow down time. Since I've started taking my paints and sketchbooks to the lake, I'm enjoying the experience that much more.
