Title
Pelicans At The Weir
Artist
Pat Katz
Medium
Painting - Watercolor
Description
The weir on the South Saskatchewan River in downtown Saskatoon is a popular look-out spot for residents and visitors alike. The pelicans seem to like it, too. They spend hours bobbing in the rolling water on the downside of the weir waiting for lunch to appear. A contest is held every spring to guess the day the pelicans will return, signaling an end to the long prairie winter.

This is quaint Pat---love the speckled salt background as well. We don't have pelicans here in NZ.

Thanks, Diane. I thought they turned out quite well myself. Learned the background texture technique from Karlyn Holman, a Wisconsin US painter and teacher.
