This image was painted from the white, sandy beach at Matira Point looking back to Raititi Point on Bora Bora. On this hot, sunny, May afternoon I set up in the shade, alternating sketching with cooling off in the inviting blue waters of the lagoon. The neighborhood dogs kept us company in the shade, while two bare-bottomed ragamuffins (3 or 4 years old) entertained us with their seaside antics.
