Kakabeka Falls cascade some 40 meters over the rock cliffs of the Kaministiquia River near Thunder Bay, Ontario. Nicknamed the ‘Niagara of the North’, I’d suggest that the natural setting of Kakabeka (minus casinos and hotel developments) make it even lovelier than its more famous sister. It’s a powerful drop with a thundering roar. I wouldn’t have wanted to be one of the first of the voyageurs heading down the river wondering about the sound around the bend.
