About Pat Katz
I am an Appreciative Adventurer - finding joy and beauty everywhere I am and everywhere I go. In art, as in life, I am drawn to express the up side, the sunny side, the inspiring message that life is good. I hope others feel encouraged and heartened for having been in my presence and in the company of my work.
With pen or brush in hand, with paints and paper in front of me, I am easily captivated by the moment and just plain happy! Splash and squiggle is how I work. Ink and watercolor is where I live. Bright light and lyrical lines lift my spirits and make me smile. My best work appears when I'm able to hold a lighthearted, playful spirit.
I have taken several watercolor classes from Canadian artist, Cecelia Jurgens, and traveled with her on three painting trips visiting the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. I've also studied with other artists including: John Lovett, Brenda Swenson, Charles Reid, Judi Whitton, Brian Atyeo, Barry Coombs, Anne McElroy, and Karlyn Holman.
I live and work from my home in western Canada (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). I travel a great deal for both work and pleasure. I always pack a sketchbook and paintbox in my bag everywhere I go, keeping my eye peeled for sights to capture along the way. It has changed the way I look at the world.
Forty of my artworks have been published in a book titled Sketches of Saskatoon. It delivers a colorful stroll through the streets of the city I call home. You can learn more at: www.sketchesofsaskatoon.com
My paintings and WC sketches can be found in private collections around the globe: France, England, Saudia Arabia, Australia, the USA, and Canada.
I have recently been accepting commissions, and also started teaching Ink & Watercolor Workshops. If you are interested in either or both, do contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope you enjoy these images, and that you choose to make my art a part of your world. Welcome to the PauseWorks Studio Gallery. Enjoy!
